The VOTLAW indicators for resident citizens measure the degree of inclusion of legal provisions regulating the voting rights of those persons who are citizens of a state in which an election is held and who are also permanent residents there.

The overall score for each type of elections captures six types of eligibility restrictions (based on age, criminal offence, mental disability, temporary absence, professional occupation, and naturalisation/dual citizenship) and two types of access restrictions (based on registration procedures and voting methods). Users can visualise the aggregated score for a specific level or type of elections, or select one or several disaggregated indicators. For a detailed description of our coding scales and aggregation rules, consult the ELECLAW explanatory note.
