The CANLAW indicators for resident citizens measure the degree of inclusion of legal provisions regulating the right to stand as candidate of those persons who are citizens of a state in which an election is held and who are also permanent residents there.
The indicators capture six types of eligibility restrictions (based on age, criminal offense, mental disability, temporary absence, professional occupation, and naturalisation/dual citizenship). Users can visualise the aggregated score for a specific level or type of elections, or select a specific ground of disenfranchisement. For a detailed description of our coding scales and aggregation rules, consult the ELECLAW explanatory note.
